Coloration Systems Release Agent is a dry blend of special chemical powders and color pigments designed for use with textured concrete imprinting tools and processes. It allows the clean release of texture imprinting tools from the surface of the concrete. When a contrasting color is used, it adds color variation to the textured surface, thus providing an attractive two-color look which is usually desirable in texture imprinted concrete surfaces. Coverage rates will vary from 500 to 800 square feet per bag depending on the applicator and job site conditions.

 

Basic Use: Coloration Systems Release Agent is a ready-to-use, dry-shake material used for achieving a successful release of imprinting tools and texture rollers from the concrete surface. In addition to release qualities, Coloration Systems Release Agent also introduces an accent color to the textured surface.

Limitation: Release Agent should not be troweled into the concrete as this will cause permanent staining of the surface. It is generally recommended that the Release Agent be darker in color than the Color Hardener. This allows for a contrast between the Color Hardener and the Release Agent. Coloration Systems Release Agent is designed and formulated to be applied ONLY by licensed contractors who are trained in the field of Architectural Concrete Paving.

Packaging: Coloration Systems Release Agent is available in 20 lb. sacks. Coverage is approximately 400 to 500 square feet per sack. Material should be “fluffed up” before use to allow maximum coverage.

Materials: Coloration Systems Release Agent is a proprietary mixture of color pigments and other chemicals that exhibit exceptional release characteristics and job-site performance.

Texturing: Various finishing techniques may be used to achieve surface textures. Imprinting tools, texture rollers and texture skins may be used successfully with Coloration Systems Release Agent.

Shelf Life: Excellent. Must be kept dry.

Availability: All standard colors are stock items. Custom colors are available upon request.
Maintenance: Use mild detergent or degreaser. Avoid acids if surface has not been coated. For acid washing, a dilute solution (one part acid to twenty parts water) should be used. Clean stains immediately. Avoid the use of solvents on coated surfaces.

 

Suggested Coating: Coloration Systems Clear Stain.

Application: After Coloration Systems Color Hardener is applied and has been troweled, apply a light, uniform dusting of Coloration Systems Release Agent in a contrasting color, using the dry-shake method. Care should be taken to achieve uniform and total coverage of the area to be textured. The surface should never be troweled after the Release Agent has been applied. Imprinting tools, texture mats or texture rollers may be used at this time. After the concrete has reached its initial strength, (usually the following day), the surface may be swept and/or washed to remove the majority of excess Release Agent. Once the slab has reached initial cure, (seven to eight days), the surface may be pressure cleaned or scrubbed with a rotary floor machine to remove residual Release Agent. It is usually desirable to leave a certain amount of Release Agent in the imprint lines and textured areas. This will give the two-color effect, which is most desirable in texture imprinted concrete surfaces. Apply Coloration Systems Clear Stain to aid in the retention of remaining Release Agent. This stain coating is recommended but not required. When coated, the color of Release Agent may intensify.

Warranty: This product is warranted to be of uniform quality within manufacturing tolerances. Since control is not exercised over its use, no warranty, expressed or implied, is made as to the effects of such use. Seller’s and manufacturer’s obligation under this warranty shall be limited to refunding the purchase price of that portion of the material that is proven to be defective.
